(I figure if Derrick can come to a triathlon, I can participate in IMBB9? Next thing you know Derrick will be out there on the race course and I'll be making a tripe terrine!)
My Terrine! A day late (never let it be said I'm not a procrastinator) but a successful culinary endeavor. I actually made it yesterday, but it had to sit for 24 hours so the unveiling wasn't until tonight.
I loosely followed a recipe from Epicurious.com. I roasted 1 eggplant, 1 red pepper, 1 yellow pepper and 3 zucchini. I blanched 1.5 lbs of spinach and mixed 8 oz goat cheese with basil, parsley, salt and pepper. I then lined a loaf pan with saran wrap, layered all of the vegetables once (eggplant on the bottom), 1 layer of all of the cheese, and then repeated all of the vegetable layers. Wrapped the extra saran wrap over the top, laid down cardboard and some cans, and left in the fridge overnight to compress.
The terrine stayed together fairly well for not having any real binding agent (see all the terms you learn by reading Derrick's blog?) and tasted delicious. I served it with toasted bread and a sundried tomato/garlic/oil puree. Yum! Would be a great appetizer or a lunch for a warm day.

Right now: working .... but only for a few hours today. Ran a fast 5 miles this morning with TNT ... it's great to run with a group. And this afternoon, the roommate and I are going to metrosports, where I have a 20% off coupon, to buy running shoes and possibly some running / triathlon apparel.
Tonight - marc/jason/kenny/martin are playing guitar at red devil lounge ... I'm going to heckle. Red Devil Lounge, Polk x Clay for those reading this (anyone??) who are in SF...

Tonight I'm going to test ride a 1989 Trek 5200. It is 12 years old but costs $790 - not bad for a bike that is usually $2500. Cross your fingers for me that it is in good condition...
At the same time I'm going to test out a SoftRide ... also used (the same guy is selling both -- the SoftRide is a 1993 or 94.) This one is only $890 and should at the lease be funky to try out.

Funny drinking photos
I'd like to point out that in those photos I am the only person over 21. Loran is a freshman and Steve is a sophomore and I'm, well ... a senior. No, I have no friends my own age. ah well :)

As usual ... engineering estimates were off by a factor of two. It's tough to be friends with the people you work with, it's like the line between professional disappointment and personal disappointment gets blurry.
I haven't been home before 2:30am in two days, taking off now....

Two funnies:
1. Did you know that the George Bushs' call each other "43" and "41" ?
2. Some of you know that I work for a 3 person company. Some (many, in fact) would call us a cash-strapped startup. Well today, Dan (one of our CEO's) sent an email to an investor in the hopes of making us a little less cash strapped. He made one grammatical mistake: he used the work illicit where he meant to use elicit. In the context of the fact that we are trying to sell software to schools to use with young children, this is a rather unfortunate, but humorous, goof.

Yes .... no posts in awhile plus this is going to be a shorty. Weekend recap:
- friday: - dinner at herbivore, great vegetarian restaurant, with sonia and tom - drinking and dancing and drinking at skylark. Much fun was had by all. I went up and danced with some random guy. Go me.
- saturday: - napa in a convertible with sonia and tom. visiting domaine chandon (sparkling wine), Grgich vineyards, Sterling vineyards. would recommend all, and would highly recommend convertibles in Napa. Not practical in SF though. - random date with random involved guy. Interesting and sketch, all at the same time. Ended poorly.
sunday - woke up late (see last post from previous day) to go to TNT workout. Raced out of bed, up to Twin Peaks to pick up Sean, and up to Marin for a swim / bike workout with the team. #1 Sean comment from the ride up: "Whoa, it won't help us get there any faster if we don't get there alive." - wonderful workout and breakfast following. wonderful. (no better way to wake up and cure a slight hangover than jumping in a pool at 8am.) - late afternoon: went to neighborhood businesses soliciting gift certificate donations for a TNT raffle. Contact me to buy raffle tickets!!! You could win one of many lovely dinners in lovely san francisco.

Another TNT picture .... I'm really happy I decided to join this group.
This one is more meaningful than the previously posted, drunker picture. This is me and one of my honorees, Susan. Susan has leukemia but is currently in remission. She is in better shape than I am! She is 58 years old and has done many a marathon, century ride and triathlon. She's training with us to do the triathlon this fall too. It's for people like her that I want to raise as much money as I can for leukemia research.
Susan made everyone on our team ( >100 people! ) bracelets to wear during our training and the event, to remind us of why we're doing all this. She is very inspiring. More of her story here.
Those are my thoughts for the morning! Now I need to crank on some codin'

Who works on beautiful Sunday afternoons? Ginger works on beautiful Sunday afternoons.
But she does this after having a wonderful Saturday and Sunday morning, so I guess it's ok. Sure doesn't feel ok!
You should check out Motty's livejournal, since he seems to have had a banner posting day yesterday. Motty is in NY and I miss him!
